Occupational Hygiene

The control of Substances Hazardous to Health (CoSHH) Regulations requires monitoring to determine if the implemented hierarchy of controls in place are minimising operator exposure to substances hazardous to health.

Occupational hygiene monitoring can enable you to establish operator exposure to airborne hazardous substances in the workplace and consequently establish whether the controls being used to minimise exposure are working effectively.

The techniques can be utilised to determine the level of exposure experienced by employees and identify areas where additional control measures or changes in working procedure can reduce operator exposure and improve efficiency.

At Drake Lapthorn we can undertake occupational hygiene monitoring to establish employees exposures to substances hazardous health used by your company and determine whether the controls used are appropriate for the level of exposure.

Occupational hygiene monitoring for hazardous substances involves:

  • Personal monitoring of operative whilst completing tasks involving the hazards substance
  • Review of working practices to determine whether these may be contributing to the level of hazardous substance in the air
  • Visual inspection of the workplace to establish levels of house keeping
  • Analysis of samples by a UKAS accredited laboratory
  • Provision of report detailing results of monitoring, conclusions and recommendations to minimise exposure where appropriate.
