Legionella Risk Assessments The approved code of practice L8 ‘Legionnaires’ Disease – The Control of Legionella bacteria in water systems’ requires that formal risk assessments are completed on all water systems. i.e. the determination of the likelihood of a legionella outbreak occuring at the premises. Once completed the risk assessment and written scheme should enable management of the water system by your company to minimise the risk of a legionella outbreak occurring at your premises. Planning and management systems should be robust enough to ensure that water systems are maintained in a satisfactory condition and minimise the risk of legionnaires disease. The assessments should be reviewed regularly, at least every 2 years, and when changes to the system are made or the assessment is believed to be no longer valid. Quality Assurance
